Happy Kanako’s Killer Life Gets TV Anime in April 2027; Hana Tamegai Voices Kanako

Her next job is unexpectedly at a “good” company of assassins. Minoru Wakabayashi’s four-panel manga Happy Kanako’s Killer Life will become a TV anime airing from April 2027. Its official site has opened, and a teaser video is available on the TOHO animation channel.

An assassin company with a ¥600,000 starting salary

Kanako Nishino is an ordinary office worker who quit an exploitative company after it wore down her body and mind. Her new employer is a firm of assassins offering a ¥600,000 starting salary, weekends and holidays off, and full benefits.

Volumes 1–9 of the original manga are available from Seikaisha COMICS, with more than 1.2 million copies in circulation. A live-action drama starring Non and Taisuke Fujigaya of Kis-My-Ft2 has also been made. The teaser begins with an unusual recruitment-advertisement-style segment featuring a real Asian small-clawed otter.

Cast and staff

Hana Tamegai voices Kanako. Ryota Suzuki plays Sakurai, her gruff senior colleague whose catchphrase is “I’ll kill you,” while Junichi Suwabe plays the intimidating-looking but caring company president. Tamegai revealed in a comment that this is her first lead role. She will also voice the animals.

Shinji Takamatsu, known for comedies including Gintama and Grand Blue, directs and writes the script. Yoshiyuki Okubo handles character design and chief animation direction, and Drive produces the animation.

Broadcasters and exact broadcast times have not yet been announced. Updates will appear on the official site and official X account (@kanako__anime).
