Synopsis
Ten months ago on Mount Miho in the Yatsugatake Range, Nagano police inspector Kansuke Yamato was pursuing Sadakuni Mikuriya, a suspect in an eight-year-old gun-shop robbery and assault who disappeared while on parole. Kansuke spotted someone other than Mikuriya, was shot in the left eye by that person, and was caught in an avalanche. He survived but lost his memory of what happened on the mountain. In the present, an intruder attacks staff member Madoka Tsuburai at the National Astronomical Observatory in Nobeyama, Nagano. Kansuke and colleague Yui Uehara respond, but his wounded eye begins to ache when he sees the observatory's radio telescope. Meanwhile, Kogoro hears from Koji Sameya, a former police colleague, who asks about Kansuke and the avalanche. Kogoro arranges to meet him, but arrives with Conan and Ran to find Sameya shot dead.
